Founded in 1991, formally the Macedonia Basketball Association (MBA), THE Nordonia Youth Basketball (NYB) offers a recreation basketball program for boys and girls in grades Kindergarten - 12th.

During the past 30+ years, over 10,000 children have participated in THE Nordonia Youth Basketball program, with many doing so from their Kindergarten year through their Senior year in HS.  Many that participated in the NYB and/or attended Nordonia HS are now playing in our extremely popular Alumni League and Summer League. 

THE Nordonia Youth Basketball program # 1 PRIORITY has always been to provide a memorable and positive experience to all participants.


Kindergarten (Boys & Girls) / 1st & 2nd Grade Girls / 1st Grade Boys / 2nd Grade Boys

We once again asked a number a families this summer for feedback on how NYB could continue to advance the program for these age groups.  These three things overwhelmingly stood out again this year:

1) Families want a cost-effective offering.

2) A program that provides a positive experience that offers age-appropriate instruction to introduce their child to organized basketball.

3) An offering that isn't "too short or too long" in duration that their child can "test drive" an organized basketball program in a non-stressful environment.

So, we considered your input and looked at the 30 + years NYB has offered a youth organized basketball experience and here is what we offer for the 2024-25 season:

10-week program on Saturdays for 75 minutes starting in early November 2024 and conclude end of January 2025.  Player participation fee will include a custom NYB jersey, 'Award Winning' age-appropriate instruction, weekly awards, end of season celebration event, and most importantly a ton of FUN!!!

'Award Winning Instruction' will be provided by NYB / NHS Alumni and others with over 25 years of providing youth basketball instruction and leadership. 

• The boys and girls in these age groups work on age-appropriate skill development and will play 2 on 2 and 3 on 3 games. 

• After Kindergarten the boys and girls are split up.  The focus continues to be on age-appropriate skill development but the amount of game like conditions increase.

•  The goal of these levels of participation is to prepare the players for the next level of play each year, in a non-stressful environment.  The NYB has found that this process of development properly prepares the kids to begin games with referees and a score board when they reach 3rd grade.

• Most importantly our # 1 PRIORITY is to provide a memorable and fun experience to all participants!!!

3rd / 4th Girls & 5th / 6th Grade Girls

NYB has partnered with a group of area communities. 

The girls will meet as individual teams starting in November.   

Players will receive a weeknight practice session at a Nordonia facility.  Games with certified referees will be played primarily on Saturdays at the Longwood YMCA, as well as at area facilities.  Season will conclude in February.

Due to circumstances beyond the control of the NYB, this schedule is subject to changes.

3rd / 4th Boys & 5th / 6th Boys

The boys will meet as individual teams each week starting in November. 

Weekday practice sessions will be offered at a Nordonia facility starting in November.

Games with certified referees will be played primarily on Saturdays at the Longwood YMCA.  The season concludes with a Championship Tournament.  Championship Games will be played at the Nordonia High School Main Gym.

7th & 8th / 9th & 10th / 11th & 12th Grade Boys

The boys will meet as individual teams each week starting in December. 

Games with certified referees are played each Saturday and or Sunday at the Nordonia High School.  The season concludes with a Championship Tournament.  Championship Games will be played at the Nordonia High School Main Gym.
